Position / Pozícia: Senior Python Backend Developer
Základné povinnosti a zodpovednosti / Basic duties and responsibilities
U. S. Steel will welcome a Senior Python Backend Developer in its ranks to develop complex scalable Python-based ML and WEB applications that will improve process efficiencies and plant operations in line with the overarching strategic and tactical objectives of the company.
As a Senior Python Backend Developer in U. S. Steel, you will collaborate with data scientists, other software developers, project managers and other internal business partners on multiple projects to implement software solutions with measurable business value. The technology stack that we use is based on Python, Docker, JavaScript and SQL databases. Focus is on design and development of ML based WEB applications and your primary tasks will be to implement functional requirements, build efficient back-end features in Python, integrate front-end components into applications, manage testing and bug fixes, prepare technical documentation, and coach junior team members.
Duties and responsibilities
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the organization to understand requirements and business process in order to convert them to solutions
• Develop, maintain and support our product portfolio by writing quality, clean and maintainable Python code, using programming best practices
• Build new features and design new applications and ML (Machine Learning) models in Python
• Implement proof of concept, prototypes, and production-grade software
• Trouble-shoot software issues and implement bug fixes

• Python programming, development and deployment of CLI and WEB applications
• Machine learning expertise, data analysis and preprocessing
• Developing automated tests
• Code review skills
NICE-TO-HAVE:
• Frontend development (Dash/html/CSS/JavaScript/React)
• DevOps experience – containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, CD/CI pipelines
• Strong database design skills and fluency in SQL statements
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Upper intermediate (B2) English
• ability to understand business processes
• strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• should have a minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in field

We are offering base salary depending on seniority level and previous experience of candidate.
In addition to base salary, we provide variable part and other financial benefits.
Competitive salary starting from 3.000 EUR gross, depending on relevant experience.
