Safety and ecology

     Safe work and metallurgical production in compliance with environmental protection regulations rank among the main USSK business priorities. The result of permanent effort in both areas has been a significant downward trend in injury rates, emissions and waste amounts. The Company promotes such opinions and actions also outside of Company premises, and it focuses predominantly on the younger generation.

     Besides its own competitions "Where and How We Will Live", "What We Never Knew Till Now", "Professionals Work Safely" and "Safer in Schools", USSK supports the international ecological competition "EKO". The international movie festival with the topic of permanently sustainable development "EKOTOPFILM" has taken place for several years, not only in Bratislava but also in Košice. The Company cooperates with local non-governmental organizations and nearby communities in building green recreation areas, elimination of unauthorized dumping sites and road and sidewalk repairs.
