Goal of the project:
In the long term U. S. Steel Košice has always behaved as a socially responsible company supporting development of city and region in various ways. The company contributes to ice- hockey, which has a long tradition in Košice, and HC Košice is one of the leading teams in the Slovakian ice-hockey league.
The goal of this project is to support talented children - future hockey talents from socially-disadvantaged families. This is in line with the priorities and activities of U. S. Steel Košice in the sphere of donating and sponsoring. Ice-hockey is currently an expensive activity in terms of sports gear, ice-rink costs, travelling fees, and that is why U. S. Steel Košice wants to give an opportunity to talents to come out without regard to their social background and conditions.
Target group:
pre-school and school age boys
All boys who register with the hockey club will be watched by a panel consisting of coaches from HC Košice, Škultétyho Sports School and representatives of USSK, who will adjudicate on the selection to The Young Hockey Players Support Program in line with the process of confirmation on the basis of the following criteria:
- age from 5 1/2 to 8 years
- talent, physical condition
- social family background of applicant
- suitable school results to the grade average better then 2,5
Forms of the support:
Within the support of young talented hockey players U. S. Steel Košice will pay for selected children:
- HC Košice club fees
- part of the sport gear
- invitation of children
- selection of talents
