Roma Community

     Roma projects are still developing and mutually connecting, which reinforces their effect. For example the Roma Tailor's Shop in the village Družstevná pri Hornáde sews dust coats and aprons for the practical education class in the Luník IX Elementary Schoolin Košice. Skilled Roma tailors also have another job. They sew bed linen that USSK donates to hospitals and crisis centers in our region.

     There are additional projects in support of Roma students and adults. Romanies work in U. S. Steel Košice within a special project, they upgrade their education in a Metallurgical Equipment Operator's course, and they talk to Roma students through a short documentary film. They emphasize the importance of education for finding a good job. The students can see the documentary in a new science classroom at the Luník IX Elementary School. The classroom opening was also supported by our Company.

     Last but not least there was support for the publishing of Bill Baker's book "Out of the Vicious Circle", where he presents several solutions for the so-called "Gypsy Problem", and ways out from their generic poverty.
