George F. Babcoke George F. BABCOKE
President

   Babcoke, 51, and a native of Northwest Indiana, began his career with U. S. Steel in 1976 as a laborer in the general services department at Gary Works in Gary, Ind. In 1987, after a series of positions with increasing responsibilities, he became area manager of maintenance at Gary Works' hot strip mill. In 1990, he was named division manager of hot rolling. He was named division manager of operations services in 1994 and advanced to plant manager of finishing operations in 1995.
   Babcoke left Gary Works in 1997 when he was appointed vice president of operations at a joint-venture partnership, USS/Kobe Steel Company in Lorain, Ohio.
   Babcoke returned to U. S. Steel in 2001 when he was appointed general manager of Gary Works. In 2004, he relocated to the company's corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh when he was appointed managing director - engineering & technology. In 2005 he was elected vice president-plant operations, assuming executive oversight of the company's North American operating facilities.
   He assumed his current position in 2008 of Sr. VP European Operations and President of U. S. Steel Kosice.
   Babcoke holds a bachelor's degree in organizational management from Calumet College and a master's degree in management from National-Louis University.

Matthew T. LEWIS Matthew T. LEWIS
Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

   Matthew Todd Lewis graduated from West Virginia University in Morgantown in the year 1988 (Accounting focus), where he obtained degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. One year later the same institution awarded him the title MPA (Master of Professional Accountancy). He is also holds a Certified Public Accountant Certificate (CPA) of West Virginia State. Matthew T. Lewis is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
   Before coming to the United States Steel Corporation, Matthew T. Lewis devoted ten years to accounting and auditing activities and also acted as a independent consultant in the area of external financial reporting. He has held in the United States Steel Corporation since 2002 managing positions in the areas of accounting and financial reporting. During the years 2003 - 2006 he was active in U. S. Steel Kosice as director of external financial reporting Europe. He worked the following four years in U. S. Steel Serbia, d.o.o., where he was first the General Manager Accounting Services, then General Manager Analysis & Statistics, and from June 1st 2009 until now the Executive Director of Finance. He assumed his current position in August 2010.

Patrick J. MULLARKEY Patrick J. MULLARKEY
Vice President Operations

   Patrick J. Mullarkey (1957), a native of Chicago, graduated in 1981 from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering, and earned a masters in business administration in 2004 at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. He began his career in the steel industry with Inland Steel in East Chicago, Ind., in 1981 and moved through a series of supervisory and management positions in the company's iron and steel making operations. In 1994, he joined Raytheon Engineers & Constructors as the lead engineer for the Blast Furnace Reline Division and held that position until joining U. S. Steel in 2000.
   Mullarkey's first assignment with U. S. Steel was area manager-operating and maintenance, South blast furnaces at Gary Works in Gary, Ind. After advancing through a series of increasingly responsible managerial positions, he was assigned to the Gary Works' #14 Blast Furnace construction project in 2005. When the project was completed, Mullarkey transferred to Pittsburgh headquarters to serve as director-engineering project development.
   He assumed position Vice President Technology at U. S. Steel Kosice, in January 2007. He was named Vice President Operations in March 2009.

Miroslav Kiralvarga Miroslav KIRALVARGA
Vice President Management Services & Administration

   Miroslav Kiralvarga(1964) graduated at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of P. J. Safarik in Kosice (1982-1987). Till 1995 he worked at the Physics Department, Technical University Kosice, where for two years he acted as deputy head of department. During the period 1995 - 1997 he worked in turn for Procesna Automatizacia VSZ a.s., VSZ Keramika, s.r.o. and VSZ a.s. as Assistant to General Director and Vice-president Office Director.
   Mr. Kiralvarga was appointed Director of Controlling at supplementary retirement insurance company STABILITA . Toward the end of 1999 he started work as Senior Manager Personnel and Compensation in VSZ U. S. Steel, s.r.o. joint venture.
   During 1998 - 2000 he took the Master of Business Administration program at the University of Pittsburgh, Katz Business Graduate School.
   In November 2000 Mr. Kiralvarga was appointed to U. S. Steel Kosice, s.r.o. position of GM Compensation. In March 2003 he took the Management Academy Program at U. S. Steel Pittsburgh. In the same year he became Vice President Human Resources at U. S. Steel Kosice. In November 2005 successfully completed the U. S. Steel Leadership Development Program. He was appointed to his current position on May 1st, 2007.
   He is President of the Association of Metallurgy, Mining Industry and Geology of the Slovak Republic, Vice President of the National Employers Association and a member of the Board of Directors of Stabilita, d.d.s., a.s.

M.Pitorak Martin PITORAK
Vice President Human Resources

   Martin Pitorak (1957) graduated at the Technical University in Kosice, Faculty of Metallurgy in 1981. The same year he started working for VSZ at the Cold Rolling Mill, and worked in that plant until 1994, ultimately as Canning Sheet Production Manager. During 1995 - 1996 he was VSZ OCEL s.r.o. Sales Division Manager. In 1996 he took a retraining course in Production Management at Kansai Productivity Center in Japan.
   For the next two years he was VSZ Nakup s.r.o. Trading Activities Manager as well as VSZ OCEL Quality Department Manager. Since February 1998 he worked as Senior Manager for Personnel Matters and Quality in joint venture VSZ U. S. Steel. Since September 1999 until November 2000 he was VSZ a.s Vice President for Human Resources. Prior to his present appointment in 2007 as U. S. Steel Košice Vice President for Human Resources he held the post of U. S. Steel Košice Vice President Labor Relations and Motivation.
   From 2000 to 2005 he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees in the Sidéria-Istota Health Insurance Company, and since Jan. 1st 2007 he has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the Dôvera Health Insurance Company.

Robert J. BELTZ Robert J. BELTZ
Vice President Commercial

   Robert Beltz (1969) is a native of Canonsburg, Pa., and graduated from Duquesne University in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1997.
   Beltz joined the company in 1990 as a management associate in accounting and finance. After spending two years in the audit department, he moved into the company's commercial organization in 1993 and advanced through increasingly responsible positions over the next 14 years, including managerial roles in automotive sales and marketing at U. S. Steel's Automotive Center in Troy, Mich. In February 2007, Beltz relocated to the company's corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh when he was named director-market analysis and strategy. Later that year, he advanced to director-industry marketing. He assumed his most recent position, general manager-North American flat-rolled marketing, in April 2008.
   He assumed his current position in February 2010.

Vladimir JACKO Vladimir JACKO
Vice President Technology

   Vladimir Jacko (1962) a native of Kosice graduated from Technical University in Košice in 1986 with a master's degree in electrotechnics. He finished post-graduate studies in economics in 1998. In 2002, he earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh's Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. He obtained a doctorate degree from the Mining Faculty, Technical University in Košice in 2007.
   Vladimir Jacko began his professional career as a teacher of electro-technical subjects and joined the former Eastern Slovakian Steelworks in 1996 as a dispatcher at the facility's power plant. Over the next five years, he progressed through a series of increasingly responsible positions before being named deputy director of the power plant in 2001, one year after U. S. Steel had acquired the integrated steelmaking operation. In 2003, he was named general manager-energy for U. S. Steel Kosice and assumed added responsibility for transportation in 2005.
   In 2006, Jacko relocated to the United States after being named division manager-utilities, shops and services at U. S. Steel's Fairfield Works, an integrated steelmaking facility in Fairfield, Ala. He returned to Kosice in January 2009 when he was named general manager-energy strategies. He was advanced to position Vice President Technology in March 2009.
   Jacko is a former board member of the Association of Metallurgy, Mining and Geology and a former executive committee member in the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Traci L. VAUGHAN Traci L. VAUGHAN
Vice President Business Services Europe

   Traci L. Vaughan, graduated from Thiel College in 1994 with a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science and Mathematics.  She subsequently earned a Masters of Science degree in Telecommunications from the University of Pittsburgh in 2000.  Her career with U. S. Steel began in 1993 at the Pittsburgh Service Center as a student intern working in the Training and Development team.  
   Following her internship, Traci was hired on the permanent staff of UEC in 1994 and assigned as a programmer on its Inland Steel Project.  Throughout the next several years she was advanced through a series of supervisory and management positions with various departments within UEC.  In 2003, she moved back to the U. S. Steel Information Technology Services group as the Department Manager responsible for the Business Planning and Tubular Systems applications.  In 2004, as the new Business Service Center organization was being created, Traci was named to the position of Business Liaison within the BSC's newly formed Capability Management organization.  
   The following year, Traci was assigned as manager of the project team assigned to design and implement the BSC operating model at USS' European operations.  In 2006 she was transferred to Kosice, Slovakia as the Deputy General Manager, Capability Management for the BSC in Europe.  She was named General Manager of the BSCe Capability Management organization in 2007.  Traci assumed her current position as Vice President of the BSCe in April 2009.

Joseph A. NAPOLI Joseph A. NAPOLI
General Counsel

   Joseph A. Napoli was born in Rochester, Pennsylvania in 1956, obtained a B.A. degree in communications and international relations from Duquesne University in 1977 and a J.D. degree from the Duquesne University School of law in 1982. He joined U. S. Steel in 1990 with eight years experience in public and corporate finance.
   Before coming to U. S. Steel Kosice, his practice centred around corporate law, finance and mergers and acquisitions including the acquisition of U. S. Steel Kosice. He also represented U. S. Steel's credit division in loan origination, work-outs, restructurings and collections until its portfolio paid off in the late 1990s. He was named "Outstanding Volunteer Attorney of the Year" by the Executive Service Corps in 2003, has written for the ACC Docket, and served as a member of the Fellows Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation, the Business Law Council of the Allegheny County Bar Association and as President of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
