Discussions on occupational safety

Members of the top management of U. S. Steel Kosice, general managers, divisional directors and subsidiary company managers met for discussions together with trade union representatives on Monday of this week, June 15th, regarding innovative approaches in the area of occupational safety. The aim of the meeting was to seek and find further possibilities for making the corporate culture of safety more effective, by making clear to employees what is most important. USSK President meets volunteers

Last Wednesday, June 10th, U. S. Steel Kosice President George F. Babcoke held an informal session to meet several dozen steelmakers who were active participants in the volunteer events recently organized by the Kosice steelworks. At the meeting, also attended by Vice President Human Resources Martin Pitorak and Vice President Operations Patrick J. The title of U. S. Steel Kosice Volunteer of the Year 2009 was awarded to Projects Management Department member Annamaria Tothova.

Benefits for everyone

U. S. Steel Kosice is carrying on throughout 2009 with its social program for employees, providing everyone with various benefits. The in-kind contribution in the form of RELAXPASS vouchers can be used for various purposes selected on the basis of personal preference, for example culture and sports events, relaxation and sporting activities, recuperative spa stays, children's summer camps, fitness and vitamin programs, or for ice-hockey season tickets. Employees working in noisy environments, for instance, can enjoy recuperative spa stays, and other specific forms of occupational physiotherapy are also available. The Company also supports volunteer blood-donors with similar in-kind incentives.

French winner of Challenger Open Kosice tennis tournament

The winner of the 7th edition of the annual ATP Challenger Tour tennis tournament known as the Edymax Holding Kosice Open, which culminated last Saturday, June 13th, was the French player Stephane Robert. This is the biggest success for this 29-year-old tennis player since he last won a Challenger trophy in 2003. In the coming days he will be starting in the qualifying round for the Wimbledon tournament. The proceeds from the auction of gifts and articles donated by some of the world's elite players, as well as the amount collected in voluntary entrance payments, have been presented by the tournament organizers to the Cystic Fibrosis Center at the University Children's Hospital in Kosice. George F. Babcoke and Miroslav Kiralvarga actively participated in the auction.
