Matthew Todd Lewis to take charge of the finance department

Following vice president William C. King, the finance department at U. S. Steel Kosice, s.r.o. shall be overseen by Matthew Todd Lewis. He accepted the new position as of August 1st 2010.
M. T. Lewis graduated from West Virginia University in Morgantown in the year 1988 (major in accounting), where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration. One year later the same institution awarded him the title MPA for professional accounting. He also holds a certificate for public accounting (CPA) for the state of West Virginia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Before coming to the U. S. Steel Corporation, Matthew T. Lewis devoted ten years to accounting and auditing activities and also acted as a independent consultant in the area of external financial reporting. He has held in the USS Corporation since 2002 managing positions in the areas of accounting and financial reporting. During the years 2003 - 2006 he was active in U. S. Steel Kosice as director of external financial reporting Europe. He worked the following four years in U. S. Steel Serbia, d.o.o., where he was first the general manager for accounting services, then general manager for analysis and statistics, and from June 1st 2009 until now the financial director.

Chris Petrouski replaces Robert W. Kennedy

The new general manager at U. S. Steel Kosice for safety and occupational hygiene is from the 1st of August 2010 Chris Petrouski, who assumes this position after Robert W. Kennedy.
Chris Petrouski received in 1991 a bachelor's degree in science and history at the University of Pittsburgh in the USA. In the year 2000 he entered the Mon Valley Works U. S. Steel Corporation as a manager, and later was coordinator for safety and occupational hygiene. He arrives in Kosice from Serbia, where he was active from December 2007 at U. S. Steel Serbia, d.o.o. first as deputy general manger for safety and occupational hygiene, then from the start of 2008 until now as the general manger for safety and occupational hygiene. At his position up to this point he has carried out a great deal in the area of innovation of personal protective equipment, development in employee training, and has been very active in the committee for work safety.

Collection to help colleagues

The solidarity of metallurgists was proven once again during our voluntary collection with the intention of assisting our colleagues from U. S. Steel Kosice and its daughter companies during the elimination of the aftermath of the destructive flooding, announced at the start of June by the management of the company U. S. Steel Kosice with the cooperation of the trade union OZ KOVO U. S. Steel Kosice. The total earnings from it reached 53 315,59 Euros.
Concrete support is decided upon by the Social committee of U. S. Steel Kosice. The financial means given may be used for importing new materials for the reconstruction and repair of houses or flats, sanitation and other means of disinfection, and purchasing basic household equipment, including appliances.

Assertion through the quality of production and services

The daughter company Refrako continues filling orders for its Ukrainian customer - the firm SEV GOK in Krivy Rog. The contract for the delivery of two thousand tons of high aluminium refractory materials ALKO 60A, 72M, 85 C, light-weight insulation material of the Kolas type and material of refractory cement lines Kotmel, Komal and Kotor TO7A1 was awarded to the Kosice producers of refractory materials amid tough competition at the start of the year. "Production of the individual grades is running smoothly, according to demand. The same for shipping, which began this year in April and should be until October," affirmed the Fireclay Plant director Dusan Furcak, "so far one hundred trucks have passed through our gates with refractory material of special shapes, used by our partner to line furnaces for the production of iron pellets for metallurgy as part of the general repair."
