Company to reprofile itself as packaging expert

The company OBAL-SERVIS, a.s. Kosice intends to reprofile itself in the future as an expert in packaging issues. According to CEO Miroslav Grela, this means deciding on types of packaging, materials to be used, and the most appropriate methods of packaging goods for a specific client, the parent company U. S. Steel Kosice. One of the principal intentions is to be at the same time a low-cost service provider.

Almost 30 Projects to be tackled in 2013

This year the USSE Research and Development Unit will be continuing with its research activity, with the development and innovation of products and the optimization of processes. It will also be maintaining its support for the specialist departments and production operations at the Kosice steelworks in their fulfillment of external customers' requirements. As part of its support for operations employees, the Unit intends to add an Academy for Hot Rolling and an Academy for Cold Rolling and Finishing to its already running Academy for Steel Production and Academy for Steel Casting. The plan for the year 2013 features 28 research and development projects.

Company Winter Games continue with 2nd part of skiing competitions

Last Saturday, February 9, the Jahodna Ski Center was the venue for the second part of the skiing competitions in the U. S. Steel Kosice employees' winter games. The event was officially opened by USSK President David J. Rintoul. Taking part in the giant slalom races for children and adults, the snowboarding competition and the children's winter carnival were almost four hundred competitors and their families. Funds RAISED to be used for developing further activities

It is undeniably pleasing to hear that there are still plenty of empathetic people around who are willing to help other people. This is confirmed by the proceeds from the voluntary fund-raising on behalf of 18 non-profit organizations which presented their activities in the U. S. Steel Kosice charity hut during the Kosice Christmas period 2012. A total of 8 437.06 euros was collected in support of their public-benefit activity, and the funds raised will be used for the further development of their activities.

Final operations bid farewell to the ball season

The last carnival Saturday at the Centrum Hotel was devoted unequivocally to the employees of USSK's final operations and their guests, and with their dancing and singing they bade farewell to the expiring ball season. The final operations employees' ball took place under the patronage of GM Thomas Kevin and directors Tibor Kovacs and Miroslav Bucek, in the traditional spirit of song, dance and good food. This year's organizers again staked heavily on dancing, which is close to the hearts of Slovaks, but lso of our American colleagues. The very last ball guests left the hotel premises still with a melody on their lips even as the sun came up, which was a clear sign that they had superbly enjoyed themselves.
