New American Ambassador visits U. S. Steel Košice

Last Wednesday, September 21, the newly-appointed Ambassador of the USA in Slovakia Adam Sterling came to visit U. S. Steel Košice. A few days after taking up office, his travels brought him to eastern Slovakia, where he met representatives from the Technical University of Košice and from Košice's IT Valley, visited Prešov, and had discussions with people from the business sphere at a meeting organized by the regional branch of the American Chamber of Commerce. The new Ambassador was accompanied by commercial attaché Liam Sullivan.

At a working session with USSK President Scott Buckiso, Vice President External Relations, Administration and Business Development Miroslav Kiraľvarga and Public Affairs Director Ján Bača, the Ambassador was interested to hear about the current situation in the steel industry and specifically in U. S. Steel Košice. They also touched on the topics of education, employment and social responsibility. He then looked round several production operations, from the continuous casting of steel into slabs in Steel Plant 1, rolling out sheet on the hot wide-strip line, and product finalizing on HDG Line no.3.

Ambassador Adam Sterling worked most recently as Chargé d'Affaires at the USA Embassy in the Netherlands, and previously in diplomatic missions in Azerbaidjan, Israel, Belgium, Kazachstan and Peru. He has also held several posts in the White House specializing in international relations.
