CHRISTMAS WISHING TREE CONCERT

The "Wishing Tree" Christmas benefit concert, which took place on December 11th, in the State Theater in Kosice, was the culmination of the year-round charity activity by U. S. Steel Kosice. This year the steelmakers fulfilled the wishes of children in the foster homes in Medzilaborce and Vranov nad Toplou and disabled children at the Opatovska Street School in Kosice.

As well as the dreamed-of gifts which Company employees bought for the children in response to their cards hung on the Wishing Trees, at the concert the representatives of all three institutions also collected symbolic checks each worth 8 500 euros. USSK employees also joined in the fund-raising for the Casualty Surgery Clinic in Kosice. Just as in the past, their contributions were matched by the Company and by the U. S. Steel Kosice Foundation, which meant that the total value of the financial assistance was tripled.

Altogether the steelmakers donated 92 975 euros to the Clinic, which will be used to purchase a special operating table.
