PITTSBURGH, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United States Steel

Anton's impressive operating performance has helped him rapidly advance,
and today he is our most senior manager to come from our European
operations," said U.S. Steel Executive Vice President and Chief Operating
Officer John H. Goodish. "One of the benefits of our global diversity
initiative is that we have talented managers, like Anton, ready to assume
critical and demanding positions throughout our company."

departments including microelectronics, technical development and
engineering as well as accounting and finance. He also served as project
manager for a VSZ-U.S. Steel joint venture in 1998-1999 and was then named
chairman of VSZ OCEL, a steel manufacturing company, and vice president of
technology for VSZ.
When U.S. Steel Kosice (USSK) was created in November 2000, he was
named vice president for strategic implementation and reported directly to
USSK's president. In that position, he was responsible for USSK's pipe and
heating radiator operations, had oversight for 18 USSK domestic and foreign
subsidiaries, supported regional development through the Economic
Development Center, and led USSK's due diligence teams in exploring new

with his family to the United States of America when he was appointed plant
manager of U.S. Steel's Clairton Plant near Pittsburgh. His most recent
