Regional Convent on NATO in Presov

     Peoples, who spoke about admission of Slovakia into NATO, meet each other in Presov last week. The meeting was named Regional Convent on NATO - Presov 2002. Simply said, it was a discussion, for which interesting peoples from self-administration, state administration, commercial sector and army was successfully gained. The most awaited speech was that of Bruce Jackson, chairman of USA committee for NATO, who said, through ice hockey terminology, that we are in third period of match. The state is good, but we have to do no gross errors neither have some players excluded. Last minutes of match will be played in Prague at NATO summit. Slovakia's position has never been such good as today. The conclusion of the Vice President Karl Csensich, representative of U. S. Steel Kosice speech was, that potential admission into NATO means lower risk by investment and therefore also higher employment.

The retrieving and extending QMS audit began

     Attention of U. S. Steel Kosice in this week is without doubt mostly focused to wide system certification audit of quality. Auditors of German certification company in Bratislava opened the five days audit at meeting with company management on Monday 3rd June. They are carefully monitoring managing departments, finalizing division plants and some support activities of other division plants till Friday. Audit, as we were informed by Peter Frischer form department QMS Director, will shift our company again one step forward in area of filling of customers requirements.

Internationally about occupational safety

     The department Safety and Production Quality arranged an international conference by opportunity of 50. anniversary of Engineering Faculty of Technical University in Kosice establishment in previous days. It took place in Kosicka Bela, its theme was New Trends in Occupational Safety and Health Protection and Technical Systems Security Management. Tenths of experts on occupational safety from Slovakia, Czech republic and Germany participated at three days meeting. Also U. S. Steel Kosice company has its representatives at this meeting. Mgr. Ladislav Kucko deals in his speech with necessity of integrated occupational safety and health protection system within integrated quality management system, Peter Szeki with relation among industry accidents, OSHP and safety of technical system in integrated management systems area, Jan Janosik introduces HELP Program.

U. S. Steel Kosice for children

     "This is record number of visitors. So much people have never been here at any of our meetings." Shook his head director of Kosice ZOO Karol Seman, while looking at inrushing crowd, which flowed in Kavecany Sunday afternoon. The Action U. S. Steel Kosice for Children - an afternoon full of games and fun but also baptism of "rarity" five young bears induced big interest not only among Kosice citizens but people of near cities and villages. Vice President Martin Pastoral baptized "our" little bear on behalf of Company president John H. Goodish, and he also hand over a symbolic check to ZOO director.

47th Kosice Music Spring finished

     47th Kosice Music Spring, international music festival, culminated by final concert last Sunday. A month lasting festival's program was closed by symphonic poetry of Till Eulenspiege, op 28 of Richard Strauss and Carmin Buran, cantata for solo, choir and orchestra of Carla Orff. General partner of this year of music celebration was U. S. Steel Kosice. He offered eight hundred thousands crowns for arrangement of meeting, and except this he ordered production of seven hundred silver brooches in shape of G clef, which were carried away by participants and ladies, visitors of final concert, for commemoration. o Thirteenth salary on account on 20th June Collective agreement of U. S. Steel Kosice guaranties the thirteenth salary for employees also this year. The amount will occurs at steelmakers´ personal accounts in banking institution by 20th June 2002. Full amount of 13th salary is 100 % of agreed month tariff wage valid by 31. December 2001.
