How the project is progressing in OZ Pimpollo

On the day of the report card, we accepted a nice invitation from the Pimpollo civic association (OZ Pimpollo) to an event for children "Hooray for summer!"tag. With a creative, physical and fun afternoon, kindergarteners and schoolchildren started the holidays.

OZ Pimpollo has established a family relaxation center on Zajačá Street in Vyšné Opátske, the premises of which are gradually being remodeled and modified. The industrial building, which has not been used for five years, is being transformed room by room into creative workshops, entertainment, movement, educational and relaxation zones. The civic association offers a number of activities not only for children, but also for seniors and families with children with special needs.

In April, OZ Pimpollo received a grant from our Together for the Region program for an inclusive indoor and outdoor sandbox, an expansion of the ceramic studio and aids for the SmartBuddy robotics club. Although the grant project has not yet been completed, something has already been implemented. Says Lucia Miklošová, project coordinator and statutory representative of OZ Pimpollo:

"We have already managed to purchase two pottery wheels from the project, which we have used to expand the capacity of the ceramic workshop. There is a huge interest in it. The outdoor playground has been partially open since June, complemented by two water tables and toys that children are already playing with. These days, we are starting to remodel the premises where the indoor playground will be. We have dismantled the old equipment, the old wiring and will start pulling new cables, installing new sockets and lighting. An elevated sandpit will be created here, which will be usable throughout the year and easily accessible to children in wheelchairs."

OZ Pimpollo also cooperates with the non-profit organization Lux, which provides social services to children, adults and seniors with specific needs and is located just a short distance from the family recreation center.  "Clients from the Lux day care center were among the first visitors to our center. At the end of the summer, they will come here in the sand to play a theater, the performance The Little Prince. Ceramics and art therapy are especially interesting for them," adds Lucia Miklošová.

The civic association also organizes summer camps for children from the age of four, and has even included a week for teenagers in the program. Generous indoor and outdoor spaces create a background for meaningful activities throughout the year. We will write about the project, which we supported as part of the Together for the Region grant program, after its completion.
