We will help with the reconstruction of the Forrest Gump Club again

We have helped the Forrest Gump Club several times during our Volunteer Days. The last time was last year, when members of the trade union OZ KOVO traditionally met there. This year will be no different.

The club is a place where adults with disabilities meet, especially people with autism spectrum disorders. In a safe and stimulating environment, they establish social contacts and develop their abilities and skills necessary for the greatest possible independence in everyday life.

The director of the Forrest Gump Club, Lucia Tažiková, explained the history of this non-profit organization:

"We have been operating a day care center in Železníky for thirteen years, which is currently attended by 27 clients with disabilities. There is interest in our services, which is why we are expanding. We started with a capacity of 12 clients in 2014, a few years later with a capacity of 16 clients, and since 2025 we have premises adapted and approved for 20 clients. A year ago, we received additional premises from the city of Košice for a discounted rent, which are in the vicinity of the station. Currently, we have been reconstructing them for more than a year, they will be used for a week-long stay for another 9 clients. We are reconstructing the building on our own, so every willing hand is useful to us."

Our trade unionists helped with the above mentioned reconstruction last year. In fact, they met there twice. What they missed outdoors due to bad weather, they completed a few weeks later. This time, they will help with construction work in the interior, washing windows, painting the fence and entrance roof, as well as preparing the terrain for the construction of an outdoor parking lot. The premises will thus be one step closer to serving those who spend their time here meaningfully and gladly.
