June 09, 2004, Kosice - Environmental care represents one of fundamental business pillars at company U. S. Steel Kosice. Efforts made by company U. S. Steel Kosice in this area have been lately awarded with Prize of Minister of Environment.

Since the beginning of performance in Slovakia, company U. S. Steel Kosice has been making effort to permanently reduce amount of emissions, waste water and waste generation. Environmental Management Systems (EMS) play an important role at solving up particular tasks related to improvement of environmental protection. Divisions Cold Rolling Mill, Secondary Metallurgy Production, Hot Rolling Mill, Tin Mill and Dispatching were already awarded with Certificate ISO 14 001.

The most important implemented ecology projects in the year 2003 include: De-dusting of Sintering Belts at Sintering Plant and Reconstruction of Boiler No.2 Filter at Heating Plant - division Power Engineering. The company investment projects with high environmental contribution include as well Ecologization of Dry Heap that has been evaluated as the best project at International Environmental Competition.
