Within the donation and sponsorship approval procedure, U. S. Steel Košice top management will decide on student selection based on the following criteria:
Scholarship applicants whose parents are not permanently employed by U. S. Steel Košice
- the applicant studies a technical branch in accordance with the business orientation of U. S. Steel Košice and has permanent residence in the Košice region,
- study results up to 1.8 (study benefit in the last year of secondary school, including school-leaving examination, respectively benefit in each academic year),
- the applicant's social circumstances (without child benefits, the income per family member is less than 1.5 times the subsistence minimum).
Scholarship applicants whose parents are permanently employed by U. S. Steel Košice
- are not limited by residence and income,
- the applicant studies a technical branch in accordance with the business orientation of U. S. Steel Košice or studies a branch other than technical in cases where there are extraordinary personal or family circumstances (e.g. health handicap of a student or one of the parents, semi-orphan), extraordinary success in international competitions,
- study results up to 1.8 (study benefit in the last year of secondary school, including school-leaving examination, respectively benefit in each academic year),
- the employee has worked at U. S. Steel Košice for at least three years and is not on notice at the time of the closing date of the program for the given academic year.
In both cases, scholarship applicants must also successfully complete a personal interview, to which all applicants who meet the above criteria will be invited (in particular, the student's motivation for obtaining higher education, knowledge of the basic principles of entrepreneurship of U. S. Steel Košice, as well as extracurricular or community support activities will be evaluated).
If all scholarship applications as well as applications for extensions, after meeting all the established criteria, exceed the budgetary possibilities of the programme, priority will be given to children of staff in more difficult social situations and children with better academic achievement.
