Auditors find no deviations

The 5th environmental management system recertification audit in line with the requirements of the international standard EN ISO 14 001:2004 was performed at U. S. Steel Košice by the auditors of the certification company TÜV SÜD Slovakia Pavel Horník, Pavel Chovanec and Tibor Molnár on November, 2 and 3, 2016.

”During the audit, no area was identified with deviation from the standard,” stated the lead auditor Pavol Horník. After pointing out the strengths of the environmental management system at U. S. Steel Košice and naming several recommendations that should improve the system even more, on behalf of the audit team he confirmed the validity of the certificate with respect to compliance with requirements of the standard EN ISO 14 001:2004 for the following period.

Among the strengths of the environmental management system at the Košice steelworks, the auditors highlighted the fact that the company management creates conditions for the fulfillment of statutory requirements in the environmental area, mainly by creating human or financial resources.

As part of further improvement of the environmental management system quality in the company, the auditors also presented several improvement suggestions that referred to identification of chemical substances and their treatment, biological waste issues and dealing with invasive plants.
