Secondary Metallurgical employees have lunch with President

For the second time this year USSK President David H. Lohr has invited steelmakers who have achieved especially good working results to an informal meeting combined with lunch. Sitting around the table this time, together with Vice-president Labor Relations and Motivation Martin Pitorak and GM Secondary Production Tibor Kovacs, were nine selected employees from the Secondary Metallurgical Products Division.

Cardinal Rules Training Center

Safety comes first in our Company. In recent years we have registered marked improvements in this area. Great influence is ascribed to employees' training sessions in safety and the Cardinal Rules, which originated from identification of the most frequently repeated causes of accidents at work. Pursuing this purpose further, a Cardinal Rules Training Center has been set up at USSK, where employees can have the opportunity to try out these Rules in person in the simulated environment of the Training Center, involving a lower level of risk than in the operational plants during the production process. In January this Training Center was visited by leading representatives of the USS Corporation in Pittsburgh, including John Surma, John Goodish and Gretchen Haggerty. The Cardinal Rules Training Center will be welcoming its first training participants on March 5th 2007, and over the course of the coming year all USS Kosice employees will be progressively retrained.

SAll you want to know about visas to the USA

The basis for every successful application for a visa to the USA lies in complete documentation, presenting all required documents and truthfully and completely filling in the necessary forms. This was confirmed by American Vice-consuls Aaron Schwoebel and Richard Trey Lyons, who visited the InfoUSA Center at the State Research Library in Kosice on Thursday, February 15th, ans debated with the audience of mainly young people on the topic of All you want to know about visas to the USA.

Cross-country skiers up at "Kojsovka"

The original date for the cross-country skiing races in the 11th edition of the annual U. S. Steel Kosice Winter Olympic Games had to be changed by the organizers at USSK because of lack of snow and postponed till the first week in March, so the cross-country experts were expecting to fight it out on the "white track" at Mlynky this Saturday, March 3rd. But the snow conditions are now not suitable there either, and so after a gap of several years the Olympics are returning to the cross-country area up at Kojsovska hola. The skiing circuit is brilliantly prepared, and the snow conditions are good for this competition. The official opening of the cross-country event at Kojsovska hola will be taking place at 9.30 am, and the races are due to start at 10 o'clock.
