Together we are safer
Last Tuesday, March 22nd, was an inspection day focusing on occupational safety at the Blast Furnaces and Radiators and Pipes Divisions of U. S. Steel
Kosice, which was undertaken by USSK President David J. Rintoul together with trade union leader Mikulas Hintos. They were interested in the working conditions for these divisions' employees, and
offered their assistance in resolving any problems. At the same time they appealed to the employees to work safely. Similar inspection days, which are an opportunity also for uncovering potential
risks in the workplace, are being planned by the President on a schedule of several times a year.
Over two million injury-free working hours at Power Engineering
The Power Engineering Division team has now worked a total of more than two million employee-hours without injury. To acknowledge this achievement,
U. S. Steel Kosice President David J. Rintoul invited twelve representatives of the division to a working lunch on March 24th. The employees discussed issues of occupational safety with
their host, but also talked about their everyday work, their families and their leisure interests and pastimes. David Rintoul stressed the importance of each employee being aware of their
responsibility to themselves and their families, and to their colleagues in the workplace.

Training hall already serving its purpose
Monday of this week, March 28th, saw the official opening for use of the new training hall at the Steel Arena in Kosice. The ice-rink is already being made use of by
hockey players in training, but it will experience its real endurance test during the World Ice-hockey Championships being held between April 29th and May 15th this year. The new hall has seats
for 302 spectators, two large-screen displays, ten changing-rooms and a parking-lot with spaces for 39 automobiles. After the Championships the training hall will be used primarily by the youth
teams of Kosice Hockey Club, and the new building creates conditions in Kosice for setting up Slovakia's first youth ice-hockey center.
