Author: USS Košice

Kosice, September 13th 2005 - Safety, the first and most important of U. S. Steel Kosice's six business drivers, has been the company's priority since starting its operation in Slovakia. The principle that good health and the safe return from work to the family every day are the most important values for the steelworkers is well known to the company's employees, customers and suppliers.
The plan now is to raise awareness of occupational safety among the general public, above all among young people. With this in mind, U. S. Steel Kosice is going out beyond the factory gates for the first time with a project named "Professionals work safely", focusing its attention on young people throughout the region. The campaign began at 10 am. today, when company management met students of the Metallurgical Apprentice School in Saca. U. S. Steel Kosice President David H. Lohr and other managers spoke to the students, and then handed out protective equipment which the students are to use during their practical lessons. The project includes a photographic competition entitled "Professionals work safely in every situation".
U. S. Steel Kosice's aim is to increase young people's interest in respecting the principles of safe behavior and paying more attention to their own and their friends' safety.
