Prestigious DuPont Award for U. S. Steel Kosice
The international corporation DuPont Safety Resources, world leader in the field of occupational safety and health protection, announced last week at the
international OSHP Forum in Geneva the results of its competition to find the year's best safety project. The DuPont judging committee assessed the Risk Management project developed by
U. S. Steel Kosice as the best in its category, and conferred one of the DuPont Safety Awards for 2006. The Kosice steelmakers have thus credited themselves with an outstanding success

Best films from Ekotopfilm Festival in Kosice
On Friday of last week, October 27th 2006, the official announcement of results and presentation of prizes marked the end of the seven-day marathon in
Bratislava of the 33rd edition of the annual international festival of specialist films Ekotopfilm 2006. The Grand Prix Ekotopfilm 2006 and SR Government Award were won by the film
"Dolphin Defender" from the United States of America, and the prizes were accepted on behalf of the film-makers by the Ambassador of the USA in Slovakia Rodolphe Vallee. Altogether six main
awards and fifteen secondary prizes were conferred. The main award in category A - popular-scientific films, the U. S. Steel Kosice Award, as the Company is the Festival's principal

our city to see as early as next week. The Ekotopfilm Festival 2006 takes place in Kosice from November 7th-9th in the auditorium of the historical Town Hall.
Crowds at the U. S. Steel Kosice stand
The Aula Maxima of the Technical University was the venue recently for the third in a series of events called Career Day, and this time the organizers' invitations
were accepted by the best part of thirty firms, businesses involving foreign investors, consultancy companies and educational institutions. As is by now traditional, the line-up of course
included U. S. Steel Kosice, and the Company's exhibition stand was exceptionally busy from early morning to late afternoon. Students were interested not only in the possibility of
future employment opportunities with the steel-making firm, but also in the conditions for participation in the summer internship program, for cooperation on degree dissertations and for the
Company's scholarship scheme.
Transport Division is 45 years old
The U. S. Steel Kosice Transport employees are currently celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of their division. The most rapid
development of the transport infrastructure occurred in the period 1962-1966 when the works railway network was built up, with linking lines and marshalling yards serving the separate plants and
ultimately creating the integrated steel-making cycle. The most important point in time historically, though, was the year 2000, when the steelworks was taken over by a strategic investor and new
owner in one - the U. S. Steel Corporation.
Auditors recommend another three-year certificate for USSK

environmental management system (EMS) at U. S. Steel Kosice. The auditors reached a consensus and concluded that USSK has fulfilled all their requirements, thus entitling them to send a
report to the certification center recommending issuing the Company with an EMS certificate valid for a further three years.
