Record number of entries for the bowling championships

The fact that ten-pin bowling has established permanent roots among the sports included in the U. S. Steel Kosice Summer Olympics was confirmed for us all once again at the recent Company bowling championships, which took place at the end of last week at the now traditional venue of the four-lane Bowling Pub up at the KVP neighborhood in Kosice. Following the trial "zero" edition in 2005 and last year's first official championship event, the interest shown by Company employees reached another record level. There was a total of 329 entries from people all keen to win the precious trophies, not only in the individual tournament, but also in the competitions for three-member men's, women's and mixed teams.

Kosice City Day

The month of May in Kosice is now traditionally associated with the Kosice Day celebrations, and this year will be no different. From May 1st to 7th, the organizers have prepared two rounds of various cultural and social events, which will also be celebrating the 3rd anniversary of Slovakia's accession to the European Union. On Monday, May 7th, the Kosice City Days culminate in a grand ceremony including the official presentation of the City Awards and Kosice City Mayor's Awards. This will be taking place, as is now customary, in the historical Town hall on the Main Street. Opera lovers can look forward to an early-evening open-air concert by the Immaculata monument, starting at 4 pm the same day. These celebrations are also being sponsored by U. S. Steel Kosice.
