Volunteers! Come to the House of Quiet Agedness at Juzna Trieda to help! Let´s finish what has been commenced!

Do you remember the beginning of this summer? U. S. Steel Kosice for the first time organized event that was veryappreciated by steelmaking companyemployees. Individuals and teams joinedthe Volunteers Days held in this June and made a meritable act. Manyof them donated the most valuablefluid- blood; another ones helped at improvement and dulcification of Kosice ZOO area, Children Park at Alejova Street and in the House of Quiet Agedness at Juzna Trieda No. 2 during theirfree time. There was much work in the Houseof Quiet Agedness, thus we haveto come back and finish it. We will do it on Saturday. Oct 27, 2007 in the morning.Come and help! Every hand will be useful. We have to install new benches, plant new bushes and grass. Bringing work clothes, high spirit and willingness to help a good idea, you don´t need anything else. There will be enough tools and protection gloves, hot tea and goulash for lunch. Safety audits in U. S. Steel Europe

The safety audits taking place alternately in U. S. Steel Serbia and U. S. SteelKosice are helping the workforcesof both firms to look at the positive and negative aspects of their occupationalsafety through disinterested,independenteyes. The auditing team from Kosice recently carried out the first audit of this year at our Serbian sister works in Smederevo and Sabac. 45 years of the Power Division Last Friday, October 12th, the employees of U. S. Steel Kosice Power Divisionswapped their working clothesfor suits and evening gowns for their grand ball celebrating the 45th anniversary of the start-up of operations at the Power Plant. Another step towards improving the environmentat the Cokery Last Thurday, October 11th, following a general overhaul, saturator no.3 in the Chemia ammonium works at the Cokery Division was successfully filled with raw coking gas and brought intooperation. This revamped saturator nowmatches its counterparts no.4 and no.5 in terms of its operating parameters. Bringing saturator no.3 into operation increases the technical reliability of gas extraction from coking batteries no.1 and no.3, and at the same time reduces consumption of electric power.

Families do sport

This coming Saturday, October 20th 2007, starting at 9 a.m., the Sports-Fun Area on Alejova Street in Kosice is the venue for the historic first event entitledFamilies do sport, which is being prepared for the steelmakers and their families by U. S. Steel Kosice.

Meeting for long-term employees from Primary operations

On Friday of last week, October 12th, in the early evening the festivelydecorated main hall of JumboCenterwas the venue for the first of this year's meetings of steelmakers who havegivendecades of work to the Kosice steelmill. At this meeting thereweremore than two hundred long-term employees of the Transport, Cokery, Blast Furnaces and Steel Plants divisions.

Less suffering, better quality life

On Friday, October 5th, the DialysisCenter at the University Children's Hospital in Kosice had its big day. In the presence of the Technical Directorof the well-known Kosice sports event Steelers Cup, Branislav Stankovic, U. S. SteelKosice President David H. Lohr and his wife Susan, they officiallybrought into use their new dialysis machine. The hospital has acquired this thanks to the proceeds from the collection held by the organizers of the fifth edition of the annual Steelers Cup tennis tournament in June of this year.

Petrovicova is most successful

Last year was the first time in the history of our summer and winterOlympicGames for U. S. Steel Kosice employees that the competition was held to find the Olympic Sportsperson of the Year. First place was won last year by the best performer in the Company Olympics, Lucia Petrovicovafrom the staff of GM Analysis and Statistics. Her namewas added to the travelingcup this year again, for the secondtime.Runner- up spot was takenby Michal Dutko of the FinishingDivision,and third place was occupied by three people at once: Monika Kürthyova from Shipping, Pavol Paprcka from Cokery, and Jozef Sciranko also from Finishing. All five Olympic Sportspeople were received by Vice- president Human Resources Martin Pitorak.
