Now that the sunmmer holidays are over, the U. S. Steel Košice Women’s Inclusion Network has started up its events program again. The first of them was an online lecture held on September 23, focusing on environmental protection at U. S. Steel Košice and a new special interest group for young steelmakers called NextGen Steel. The almost 200-strong lecture audience was addressed first of all by United States Steel Senior Vice President and General Counsel Duane Holloway, who commented: “We have to attend to safety and protect the environment every day. Both at work and in our private lives it’s important that we do the right thing.”

“By protecting the environment we also protect the community which we live and do business in,” added USS Vice President Environment Tishie Woodewell. “If there’s anything that’s not clear to you, don’t hesitate to ask. We have plenty of resources, procedures and experts to assist you,” she advised. Protection of all components of the environment at USSK was presented by specialists from the section of GM Environmental, who also proposed mant tips on how individual people can also play their part in that area. In the second part of the online event, USSK GM Strategy and Project Implementation Juraj Sabol presented the new employee resource group in U. S. Steel Košice, called NextGen Steel.

This is expected to bring together above all the new generation of steelmakers up to 40 years of age, although in fact as in every ERG group, everyone is welcome. He emphasized the three main aims which the young steelmakers should focus on, namely: i) Building a community of young people at USSK, in the city and the region; ii) Promoting steelmaking as a career among students, including promoting Advanced Analytics; iii) Development of hard and soft skills in eduction.
