This Sunday, the celebrations of the Day of the City of Košice will begin. Our company is the main partner. The events organized on this occasion will last until May 11, 2025.

Experience a train robbery

On Sunday, April 27, at 9:00 a.m., start the season on the Košice Children's Railway. During the first three rides, visitors can look forward to a surprise of the Western Club Košice – a train robbery. A novelty of the season will be the launch of a simulator for future train drivers and the general public and an exhibition of mining rail vehicles.

U. S. Steel Košice has been supporting the operation of the Košice Children's Railway for many years and is also a favorite place for our volunteers who come to help the railway during the Metallurgical for Košice event.

The singing fountain wakes up

On May 1 at 8:30 p.m., the ceremonial launch of the season of the most modern and beautiful Singing Fountain in Slovakia is planned. The presentation of technological innovations will be enriched by a dance gala program.

The fountain came to life after a major reconstruction a year ago and is forever associated with metallurgists. Just as the ironworks helped with its construction almost 40 years ago, the U. S. Steel Foundation contributed 1,000,000 euros to its reconstruction. 

Come and see Venice

A water show associated with a competition of non-traditional, self-decorated vessels will take place in the Jazero Recreational Site on Saturday, May 3 from 7:30 p.m.

Thanks to the support of our company, this event is also attended by children from two children's homes - the Children's Home in Podolínec and CDR Uralská Košice, which regularly rank at the top of the list. At last year's event, the crew from Podolínec won for the umpteenth time, which managed to very imaginatively depict the Easter theme called New Life.

Open Day in the Botanical Garden

On Saturday, May 3, at 9:00 a.m., the Botanical Garden of UPJŠ in Košice, which celebrates its 75th birthday, will open its doors. On this day, it will open all its exhibitions. Members of the Košice Cactus Club and the Citrus Club will also provide consulting activities and the purchase and SWAP of plants will also be available.

U. S. Steel Košice also cooperates with the Botanical Garden of UPJŠ. The hands of our volunteers regularly help to beautify the premises of this popular place for Košice residents during the Metallurgical for Košice event. The result of the cooperation is also an artificial pond in front of the main administrative building, which was completed in 2023 The life of this aquatic habitat is the subject of long-term research.

Peter Bič Project will perform at the gala concert

The ceremony of the Day of the City of Košice is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7. It is on this day that the city commemorates an important event. On May 7, 1369, King Louis the Great granted Košice a coat of arms. This happened for the first time in history when a European monarch granted a coat of arms to a city.

At the gala concert, which will start at 8:00 p.m. at the Urban Tower and in the park near the Singing Fountain, the popular Košice band Peter Bič Project will also perform.
