The title of Safety Champion for October went to Milan Kožej, fitting and turning foreman at the Cold Rolling Mill, who accepted the award for his active approach to taking responsibility in the field of occupational safety and health protection personally from U. S. Steel Košice President James Bruno and GM Safety and Hygiene and REACH Mark Salo.

The Champion for November was Quality Process Engineer Miroslav Palaščák from the department of GM Quality. He gained the title among other things for his attention and awareness of his surroundings and colleagues, so frequently required of employees, having already identified several dangers and threats in the workplace and called for their elimination, and in addition recorded his findings in such a way that it was possible later to check the efficacy of the counter-measures taken.
