Košice, 16 April 2024 – The company U. S. Steel Košice, s.r.o. has released the names of organizations and projects which shall receive support as part of the Together for the Region 2024 grant program. A total of over €30,000 will be used this year to support 11 projects from the Košice and Prešov regions geared towards education and leisure-time activities for children, improving safety, protection of the environment and regional uniqueness. A specific feature of all projects is the active involvement of the employees of the steelmaking company. Thanks to the support of the program, cultural traditions in the village Trstené pri Hornáde will be revived, memorabilia in the village Kostoľany nad Hornádom will be restored, and the issue of the Hanigov Castle ruin’s drying up spring will be solved. A vocational technology classroom will be built in Košice with a focus on technical literacy for elementary school students. Field trip rail cars of the Children’s Rail Košice will become safer for its passengers and usable even during bad weather. Other projects focus on meaningful ways of leisure time activities for children and their positive relationship to nature. Support has already been given to 151 projects during those 17 years with a total of more than €380,000.

“I was once again pleased to see the activity of our employees in the region. It’s also thanks to them that we can implement community projects and bring positive changes to the region. I am proud to be part of a community of employees that care so much for the communities they live in” said James Bruno, President of U. S. Steel, during the announcement of the results.
