FMMR welcomed representatives of Nippon Steel and USSK

The Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling of the Technical University of Košice (FMMR) welcomed representatives of Nippon Steel and U. S. Steel Košice on the university grounds. Toshiaki Takamatsu, responsible for strategic technology planning, and Takehiko Odamura, responsible for marketing and purchasing of U. S. Steel Košice, were accompanied by USSK Vice President for Production Marcel Novosad.

At the meeting, the Dean of the Faculty, Karel Saksl, presented the current cooperation between FMMR and U. S. Steel Košice. Current joint projects and scientific, research and educational activities of the faculty were also presented. The discussion focused mainly on the possibilities of further development of cooperation in the field of metallurgy, research of new materials, preparation of graduates for the needs of industry and strengthening the connection between the academic environment and practice.

The program included a tour of the laboratories of the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling, which presented the research infrastructure and professional background of the faculty.

On behalf of the Technical University of Košice, the meeting was also attended by Vice-Rector Rastislav Ručinský, Vice-Dean Martina Hrubovčáková, Director of IMTech (Institute of Metallurgical Technologies and Digital Transformation) Branislav Buľko and Slavomír Hubatka from FMMR.
