New lights at crossings

Two pedestrian crossings, one by the polyclinic and the other by the research building in the U. S. Steel Kosice Public Access Area, were provided with halogen lighting last week. The lights are part of the safety project named Pedestrian Crossing Lighting, and so far these are prototypes of a new form of illumination designed specifically to improve the lighting of pedestrian crossings. The conception and implementation of this project have been the joint task of the Department for Dedicated Technological Equipment Safety and the Metallurgical Plant Electrical Repairs Unit of the Repair Division. The decision to install further lighting will be made by the people in charge after evaluation of experience from the operation of the prototypes.

Saca school to be a further Center for Specialist Education

The new school year 2009/2010 will see three Centers for Specialist Education functioning in Kosice. One of them will be the Secondary Specialist School in Kosice-Saca (formerly the Metallurgical Vocational School), which has been preparing students for selected steelmaking professions in cooperation with U. S. Steel Kosice for several years now. The school will thus become the regional center for specialist education serving the needs of particular branches of the steelmaking industry. In addition to the Saca school there will be Centers for Specialist Education in construction engineering at the Kukucinova Street Specialist School, and in network technologies and informatics at the Ostrovského Street Technical Specialist School in Kosice.

USSK Soccer Championships commence
