Lemesany - Moldava n. b. high-tension line improves reliability and safety of USSK connection

On February 9, 2012, the Slovakian Electricity Distribution Network Company (SEPS, a.s.) officially brought into operation the set of installations making up the high-tension (2 x 400 kilovolt) line between Lemesany and Moldava nad Bodvou. In Slovakian terms this is a unique installation, because the link from Lemesany all the way to Bukovec has been created as a multi-system line which is a combination of two 400 kV and two 110 kV systems.
From the point of view of U. S. Steel Kosice, the building of the 2 x 400 kV line between Lemesany and Moldava represents a great benefit. From now the Company's electricity supply is ensured through two independent lines along this route, providing a solution to many operational problems in contrast to the original connection by the obsolete and unreliable 220 kV line, and contributing significantly to improving the safety and reliability of the Company's electricity supply.

Start-up of Refractory and Metallurgy Services

After twenty years of successful business, U. S. Steel Kosice subsidiary Vulkmont, a.s. Kosice has changed its name. On February 10, 2012, the new private limited-liability company Refractory and Metallurgy Services was entered in the Commercial Register. The renaming of the company reflects the outcome of the restructuring changes that the maintenance part of USSK's subsidiary companies has undergone in the last few years.

Steel Plants' golden hat-trick

The 45th edition of the annual ice-hockey tournament for the U. S. And after winning the Champions' title in 2010 and 2011, their triumph this year gains them a golden hat-trick. Second place was taken by the combined team of the Cold Rolling Mill and the Coated Products and Tin Mill divisions, while the players from Shipping finished in third spot.
