At the recent session of the Board of Directors of the U. S. Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh on April 26, 2021, USS President David Burritt accorded the S.T.E.E.L Champion award to
U. S. Steel Košice Vice President Finance Silvia Gaálová.

In front of all the Board members he personally thanked her for her hard work, her leadership and managerial style, which he said personify our corporate principles. Vice President Gaálová regularly features in the leading rankings of women in Slovakian business, but what does this top-level appreciation of her work within our parent corporation, which employs thousands of people in Slovakia and throughout the United States of America as well, mean to her? “This award belongs to the whole team at U. S. Steel Košice. In the last two years, which have been extraordinarily difficult, we have once again demonstrated our resilience and ability to adapt to changes. There may be differences of opinion between us from time to time, but we always manage to find a common solution while also maintaining our ethical principles and stressing the key values of our company.”
