Together for the Region 2023 program will support community projects in the Eastern Slovakia with Eur 30,000

Košice, December 12, 2022 – Steel company U. S. Steel Košice today opened the 16th round of the Together for the Region 2023 grant program. It is designed to support local community projects with the active involvement of residents, including U. S. Steel Košice employees. Non-governmental non-profit organizations and local governments from the Košice and Prešov regions can apply for a grant of 30,000 euros for projects in four areas. Activities enhancing safety in all areas of life, environmental protection, preservation of cultural heritage, as well as development activities for children and young people can be supported. Sustainable solutions implemented in partnership with organizations from several sectors are welcome.

In total, 30,000 euros will be distributed in the program to support community projects.  A call with program criteria, an application form and all mandatory attachments are available on the U. S. Steel Košice website.  Applications can be sent up to February 13, 2023.

U. S. Steel Košice President James Bruno says: "Through this program, we are giving a helping hand to those who, like us, care about this region and are willing to do something to develop it. Motivated and engaged communities can bring positive solutions for the lives of people in the region. I especially appreciate the fact that for many years, our employees have also been involved as volunteers or organizers of community life in various areas."

Since its inception, the Together for the Region program has already supported 130 community projects with a total amount exceeding 324,400 euros. In the 2022 edition, grants contributed to the revitalization of children's playgrounds in the village of Poľov and Belža, the equestrian area in the village of Silická Brezová and the community zone in the village of Lúčka. In addition, disabled children could make progress with a dog therapist. Other projects were to involve children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds in environmental and creative activities and to teach them to spend their free time in a meaningful way.
