Where and how we will live 2011

Kosice, February 23, 2011 - U. S. Steel Kosice together with a civic association SOSNA announced today the eighth edition of the grant program named Where and How We Will Live. Elementary schools from Kosice Self-Governing Region can ask for their environmental projects a financial contribution amounting to 1 660 euro. Deadline for applications is April 8, 2011.

Aim of the grant program is to increase pupils' awareness in environmental field and to support their activities focused on environmental protection and development in the school area, in local communities and surrounding country. Projects dealing with creation of nature-trails, relaxation zones, educational campaigns, composting, bio-production or monitoring illegal landfills were successful during last years. Main topic for 2011 is water in country.

Besides direct investment in environmental protection, the steelmaking company stresses the importance of raising young generation' interest and positive attitudes toward environmental protection and improvement. We believe that this positive attitude will take root in them, and that they will go on protecting the environment when they are in productive age, either as employees or as company owners. During past seven years the company has supported the school projects with grants totaling more than EUR 47 700. This year 6 700 euro will be divided to the best projects.
