
For the 69th time, spring will bring a flood of quality music in Košice. From May 22 to June 12, the Košice Music Spring Festival (KHJ) will host the same names and projects as Carnegie Hall, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Prague Spring and the Salzburger Festspiele.
At the opening concert of OPERETTA GALA under the baton of Tomáš Brauner in the star cast of Kateřina Kněžíková & Adam Plachetka, well-known melodies from The Czardas Princess, The Merry Widow and others will also be heard. The concert will open with an overture from the operetta The Bat.
The Philharmonic Orchestra has also prepared a symphonic birthday surprise HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ĽUBICA! for the composer Ľubica Čekovská.
The Brno Philharmonic will arrive with the concert FROM BRNO TO KOŠICE: WEST SIDE STORY, FRIDA KAHLO AND MIŠIMA under the baton of chief conductor Dennis Russell Davies. The BRAHMS & SYMPHONIC OPPENHEIMER programme will be conducted by Kirill Karabits, Brahms' double concerto will be performed by violinist Alexandra Conun and cellist Andreas Brantelido. The audience will certainly enjoy the final evening REVOLUTION OF SOUND: BEETHOVEN AND SHOSTAKOVICH under the baton of Patrick Hahn.
The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will come up with the ARVO PÄRT 90 program. The ensemble, crowned with two Grammys, will pay tribute to the jubilee star of the art of world composition. Listeners will listen to Pärt's sacred music in the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth of Hungary.
Chamber music of the highest quality will be heard in the Synagogue on Zvonárska Street in the BACH V SYNAGOGUE: NEVERMIND program. Visitors can look forward to a period violin, viola da gamba, traverso flute, harpsichord and organ positive.
Top art will not bypass Tabačka, where the ŠFK will present the top ensemble Percussions de Strasbourg to Košice at the concert ALCHEMY PERCUSSION, which will import a truck of percussion from France.
The Leonkoro Quartet will perform works by the masters of classicism Haydn and Beethoven. The KHJ also bet on the production of the Ján Palárik Theatre in Trnava FILIP about the life and work of Jaro Filip.
