The Volunteer Days event - Hutníci for Košice wouldn’t be the same without Charity Clothes and Household Items Collection. It will not be missing this year either.
Are you downsizing your household? Or have you finished spring cleaning and decluttering? If you have accumulated clothes in a good condition or useful things that can be of use to others, donate them in one of the two collection points on June 21 or 22. The Archdiocesan Charity of Košice will make sure that they help people in need in our region.
Silvia Hrabovčáková, who's in charge of collections at the Archdiocesan Charity, revealed where the collected items go.
"Depending on what’s needed and what people bring, we distribute clothes and the rest of the items where needed, to Košice and the east Slovak region. We have 34 charity centers in Eastern Slovakia. The list of much needed items does not change compared to last year."
Shoes and underwear are in short supply all year round. Please do not bring costumes, suits or coats, as practical, everyday clothing is required. The donated items must be fully functional and the clothes must be clean and washed.
You can donate:
- bed sheets, blankets, sheets, towels
- clothing: men's and women's for everyday wear - t-shirts, sweaters, sweatpants, jeans, socks, underwear, sports shoes
- necessities for children: diapers, swaddles, strollers, toys, any children's shoes and practical clothes
- hygiene supplies: toilet paper, shampoos and shower gels, feminine hygiene products, detergents, dishwashing detergents
- long shelf-life foods: rice, pasta, oil, canned food, ketchup, legumes, sugar, canned meat, jams, honey, instant soups, shelf-life milk, ...
- kitchen utensils and functional appliances

OPENING HOURS OF BOTH COLLECTION POINTS:
June 21, 2024 (Friday): 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
June 22, 2024 (Saturday): 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
At the headquarters of OZ Jeseň života, you can also meet our former retired colleagues, who traditionally help with sorting and collecting clothes and items during this event.
