Crowds at the U. S. Steel Kosice stand

The Aula Maxima of the Technical University was the venue recently for the third in a series of events called Career Day, and this time the organizers' invitations were accepted by the best part of thirty firms, businesses involving foreign investors, consultancy companies and educational institutions. As is by now traditional, the line-up of course included U. S. Steel Kosice, and the Company's exhibition stand was exceptionally busy from early morning to late afternoon. Students were interested not only in the possibility of future employment opportunities with the steel-making firm, but also in the conditions for participation in the summer internship program, for cooperation on degree dissertations and for the Company's scholarship scheme.

Transport Division is 45 years old

The U. S. Steel Kosice Transport employees are currently celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of their division. The most rapid development of the transport infrastructure occurred in the period 1962-1966 when the works railway network was built up, with linking lines and marshalling yards serving the separate plants and ultimately creating the integrated steel-making cycle. The most important point in time historically, though, was the year 2000, when the steelworks was taken over by a strategic investor and new owner in one - the U. S. Steel Corporation.
