Christopher J. Navetta visits Kosice and introduces his successor

Last Wednesday, March 25th, U. S. Steel Kosice was visited by its former President Christopher J. Navetta. This was his last working visit to Kosice, as he is taking the opportunity to retire from April 1st onwards. His last position working at U. S. Steel Corporation headquarters in Pittsburgh has been Senior Vice President - Procurement, Real Estate, Raw Materials and Integration. He came to Kosice to introduce his successor, Michael J. Hatcher. The guests had a working meeting with U. S. Steel Kosice President George F. Babcoke and GM Procurement Martin Tucek. "As this was our last working session together, and Christopher J. Navetta and Leslie Broglie (who worked at USSK in the past as Executive Director for Sales - editor's note) are taking early retirement, I want to make use of this opportunity to thank them on behalf of the whole Procurement Section for their support, assistance and appreciation of our work, and at the same time to wish them good health, good fortune and every success in their new lives," said USSK GM Procurement Martin Tucek.

Maintenance during the crisis - new activities

This Tuesday, March 31st, more than fifty participants from USSK Operations, Maintenance, R&D, Best Practices and BSCE met to discuss maintenance activities during these times of crisis. The aim of their seminar was to seek and find answers to the questions as to what to do differently during the crisis and what must not be lost in the future, and it was organized by the staff of USSK GM Production Support. "We informed each other about the vision, strategy and priorities of the Maintenance Section, about the new projects we are bringing into operation, and we sought out appropriate ideas and suggestions that we might be able to apply in practice," said GM Production Support Jan Vranec.

Volunteer Days again this year

The next in the series of volunteer events called U. S. Steel for Kosice will be taking place just next month, on May 15th and 16th, and volunteers from the ranks of employees of the Company and its subsidiaries who decide to join in with this project will have the chance to choose from several different activities. Apart from the now traditional clothing collection and blood donoring, this means primarily manual work connected with exterior and interior improvements at St.Luke's Highly-specialized Geriatric Center in Kosice, at Kosice Zoo, a nursery school, a youth club and the local animals' sanctuary, as well as tidying up a cycling trail. You can see what it all looked like at last year's event called Our Kosice on the intranet.
