Subsidiary OBAL-SERVIS joins the millionaires

For achieving a million employee-hours worked without injury, the coil-packers from subsidiary OBAL-SERVIS, a.s. Kosice were congratulated at a recent working lunch by U. S. Steel Kosice President David J. Rintoul. His invitation to the joint meeting on May 2, which was also attended by Vice President Management Services and Administration Elena Petraskova, General Manager Occupational Safety and Hygiene Daniel Killeen, General Manager Manufacturing Subsidiaries Jan Petko and General Director of OBAL-SERVIS, a.s. Kosice Miroslav Grela, was accepted by thirteen selected coil-packers.

Award for USSK from Dublin

The Republic of Ireland holds the Presidency of the European Union during the first half of 2013, and to mark World Occupational Safety and Health Protection Day on April 28, a European conference entitled Small Companies and OSHA: Challenges and Opportunities was organized in Dublin on the two following days, April 29 and 30. This conference also included the announcement of the winners of the 11th annual Good Practice Awards, instituted by the European Agency for Occupational Safety and Health Protection (EU-OSHA) based in Bilbao, Spain.
This year EU-OSHA presented awards for the best examples of cooperation between managers and employees in the area of risk prevention. U. S. Steel Kosice's entry in this competition was the OSHA employees' representatives project based on the PC application named EWA for short, which earned a "Honorable Mention - Meritorious Entry" award. This award was presented at the conference in Dublin to KOVO Labor Union Council Chairman Mikulas Hintos and Deputy General Manager Occupational Safety and Hygiene Róbert Meitner by European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion Laszló Andor and EU-OSHA Director Christa Sedlatschek.

Ocel vychodu is corporate medium of the decade

Ocel vychodu is the most successful corporate newspaper in the ten-year history of the nationwide Corporate Medium of the Year competition. Five first places, two second and two third places, as well as two special prizes for best page content, have together earned U. S. Steel Kosice's company paper the award for Corporate Medium of the Decade.
This special prize was presented to the editorial team last Friday, May 3, at the official results announcement ceremony for the Corporate Medium of the Year 2012 competition in the Journalists' House in Bratislava. At the same time, out of a field of 21 media, Ocel vychodu took second place in the Corporate Newspaper category, and third place in the Corporate Calendar category. The competition was organized by the Corporate Media Club with specialist supervision from the Slovak Journalists' Syndicate, the daily Economic News and the HN (Economic News) Club.

We celebrate Kosice City Day

Traditional folk, cultural, historical, gastronomical as well as sporting events were enjoyed to full satisfaction by residents and visitors in the city during this year's Kosice City Day celebrations, which took place from April 30 until yesterday, May 8, marking an exceptional day in our history, the granting of a coat of arms to Kosice as the first town in Europe by the monarch Ludovicus Magnus on May 7, 1369. Families with children, young and old alike enjoyed this year's rich program in the 19th edition of these annual celebrations, supported as usual by U. S. Steel Kosice, and found traditional, but also totally new events full of surprises, entertainment, cultural experiences, games and competitions.
